eBay's main charge is the final value fee, calculated on the total amount the buyer pays, item price plus shipping, not just the item price. Here's the breakdown this calculator uses, based on eBay's current 2026 rates.
eBay raised its standard rate from 13.25% to 13.6% in a February 2025 update, most categories sit there now. Books, DVDs, and music run higher at 15.3%, collectibles and fine art are the highest at 15%, and guitars and basses are unusually low at 6.7%. This fee applies to the combined item price and shipping charge, and drops to 2.35% on the portion of any single sale above $7,500.
On top of the percentage fee, eBay charges a small flat fee per order, generally $0.30 on orders up to $10 and $0.40 above that.
Top Rated Plus sellers get a 10% discount on the variable final value fee as a reward for consistent service. Sellers rated Below Standard pay a 6% surcharge on top of the standard rate (rising to 7% from July 2026 for accounts that stay Below Standard four or more months running).
Fee rates are kept current but can change without notice. Always confirm current rates in your eBay seller account before making pricing decisions. This tool provides estimates only and isn't affiliated with or endorsed by eBay Inc.
