Vrbo (owned by Expedia Group) splits its fee into two pieces in the US and Canada: a 5% commission plus a separate 3% payment processing fee, landing around 8% total, meaningfully cheaper than Airbnb's 15.5% or Booking.com's ~15% average.
This is the pay-per-booking model most US and Canadian hosts now use. Vrbo's older subscription-based pricing (an annual flat fee instead of a percentage) was phased out as of late 2025, so new hosts are on the percentage model by default.
International rates run meaningfully higher than the US/Canada rate, closer to Booking.com's territory. If you host in these regions, confirm your exact rate in your Vrbo dashboard, as it varies more than the US rate does.
Vrbo also charges guests a separate service fee at checkout, similar in spirit to Airbnb's old model. This doesn't come out of your payout, it's an add-on the guest pays on top of your listed rate.
Fee rates are kept current but can vary by property type and region. Always confirm current rates in your Vrbo dashboard before making pricing decisions. This tool provides estimates only and isn't affiliated with or endorsed by Vrbo or Expedia Group.
